Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan Garwale School, Garwale Village, Kodagu

154In pursuance of ideals conceived by its founder, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan’s Karnataka Chapter has undertaken  several projects in  Karnataka covering conventional schools to Management Institutes. Bhavan believes in providing quality education not only in the cities but also to the rural children who are deprived of quality education.

In this direction, Bhavan's Mysore Kendra has taken over a school which was abandoned in Garwale Village in Kodagu District of Karnataka. This village did not haveDSCF4034 basic infrastructural facilities like electricity,  water supply and transportation. With the undaunted efforts of Bhavan Mysore the village has electricity now. Earlier, Bhavan had also organized power through solar energy to provide street lighting in the premises of the school.

To lend helping hand to Bhavan in this initiative, Geejaganda family has gifted 35 acres of land on which Bhavan conducts out bound adventure learning for its management students.

The school now has 8 classrooms providing education till 8th standard. On the pressure from the residents of Garwale and neighbouring villages, Bhavan has embarked on a project to construct an annexe building DSC00027.JPGadjacent to the existing school building to accamodate more classes.

When the annexe building is completed, the school will impart education under the state syllabus  from Kindergarten to Class 10. The building will also have facilities for co-curricular activities like fine arts, games.
