Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan started Bhavan’s Gandhi Institute in the year 1996 to provide Job oriented, Free Computer Education to the youth from the weaker section of society. There are about 53 centres spread across India. To date approximately 250 thousand youth have been trained and 24000 students are benefited every year.

Bhavan’s Gandhi Institute, Bengalure centre was inaugurated on 15th September 2013 by Sri.Veerappa Moily, Union Minister for Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt. of India. Sri. Murli S Deora, Vice-President, Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan presided over the function.

The lab is equipped with 11 state of the art computers, ACs, Projector etc. The first session started in the month of October 2013. The centre has a capacity to train 320 students in a year

Currently the following courses are conducted:

1. Office Assistant Course (Microsoft Word 2010, Excel 2010, Powerpoint 2010, Internet and Personality Development Module)

2. Accounts Assistant Course (Microsoft Word, Excel, Tally 9.0 and Personality Development Module)

3. Senior Citizen’s Course (Microsoft Word, Excel and Internet)

Eligibility for the Courses:

   * Minimum PUC / Higher Secondary Examination (10+2) passed

   * Age above 18 years and below 35 years

   * Age above 60 Years (Only for Senior Citizens)

Course Duration :3 Months. – (Oct-Dec 2013/Jan-March 2014/Apr-Jun2014/Jul-Sept2014)

Course timings:Thrice a week (Alternate Days – Mon,Wed,Fri / Tue,Thur,Sat), 2 hours per day The centre has received very good response in the very first session. 68 students are undergoing training at present. The next session will start from January 2014.
